DT Charisma - Stitching

Another Thursday, another challenge over at Charisma Cardz Challenges. This time we're stitching it up. And as always we have some excellent prizes for you. Just check out our sponsors:

So what did I do for todays challenge? Well, it's been a lot of layers, colored images and distressing from me lately (or so it feels *S*), so I wanted to do something clean and simple. The only problem was that I couldn't think of anything to do that didn't include an image or lots and lots of stash (and work!). But then I discovered one of my first and greatest sources of inspiration was back after a long brake from cardmaking and I think I got a bit (con)fused. Here's what I came up with:

Not quite CAS, but not all the layers, image and stash from my previous projects either. I've already hidden my Maja Design Paper pads to force myself into using something else on my cards. So for this card I dove into my pile of scraps, and what did i find lying there just waiting to be used?  ... Maja scraps!! *lol*
And no Maja without distressing the edges. Slightly torn and inked with Fluid Chalk Creamy Brown. The panels are also machine sewn, since that's the challenge for today.
For the sentiment I got to get out my poor neglected Verve Stamps, from the stamp set Blessings and the Vintage Oval Frame stamp and die, also from Verve.
A seambinding bow from Wild Orchid Crafts and a big pearl to top it of, and that's it for today. Now it's your turn. Hop on over to the challenge blog to see what the other gals did and don't forget to link up your own creation. Looking forward to seeing your creations! ;-)

Mojo Monday

I was actually on my way to bed when I realized I almost missed the deadline on the Mojo Monday contest, and I love Mojo Monday sketches and Verve Stamps, so I couldn't let that happen. I got upstairs and whipped up this card real quick.

I grabbed the first piece of leftover paper that was on my desk, and that was the dark turquoise one from Kaisercraft Utopia Collection. Got a couple of other pieces from the same paper pad, stamped up and die cut the most wonderful sentiment I know of (from Verve of course) and inked the edges slightly with Distress Ink Dusty Concord. Since there are tons of challenges related to love, hearts and/or Valentine's around these days, I thought I'd catch a few of them too, so I punched out two little purple hearts that are peeking out from underneath the bow. And there you have it, a card for a loved one.

Pink Mojo-licious xmas

*Mojo Monday is again serving up a fab sketch and I just had to let myself be inspired. I didn't exactely plan on making a pink christmas card, but these yummy papers from Vibeke Spigseth are just crying to be used.*

*The edges are sponged with Fluid Chalk Creamy Brown. The border is punched out with MS Swirling Lace edge punch on white cardstock. This piece of cardstock also got a strip of paper from the same paper pad as the pink paper, a silver striped Washi tape and a tiny strip of the background paper. The sentiment is from Kort og Godt and is stamped with Memento Desert Sand in a Spellbinders Labels Fourteen die cut and carefully inked with Distress Ink Antique Linen. The snowflakes have got Stickles on them, colour Frosted Lace, and pearls in the center.*

Søndagskos

Husk å sjekke ut min giveaway / remember to check out my giveaway!

*A wonderful relaxing day to day. Hubbie is finally home after an involuntary extended business trip and I got to sit in peace and quiet in my playroom for a while.*

*I took a que from the sketch at Mojo Monday. The image is a stamp from Panduro, colored with ProMarkers colours from the Spring Collection (Morning Mist, Fresh Meadow, Budding Rose and blender). The Papers are from a pad I've had around for years but rarely can afford to use, V&A "Hannoverian Sheet Linen". I've inked the edges with Fluid Chald and sewn around the edges. The flowers are from WOC and Papirloftet. Satin ribbon from my stash and seambinding from WOC. The tag and the swirl are both Magnolia dies. In addition I've used a couple of metal corners from Kort og Godt and a doily from Wilton.*

A small sign of life

All kinds of germs have been ruling our house lately. First me with the flu, then my son with an eye infection, then my husband with the flu, our daughter with the flu, me again with an even worse flu AND an eye infection, then on saturday, both the kids with fever and finally me again with some serious stomach ache. Life is unfair!
And all this illness doesn't really spark the creative plug in me. I had great plans for the World Cardmaking Day yesterday, but all that came out of it was three unfinished cards. In spite of stomach issues I had to drag myself upstairs today, as I have deadlines on far too many projects now and I finally finished something. Nothing too complicated, I just had to join in on the Mojo Madness.
Hope to be back in better shape real soon!

PS: For those of you who might be waiting for that small celebration I was talking about a while back, well it just got a little bigger. Check back later this week. ;-)

*If Saturdays are perfect for ten minute cards, then Sundays must be perfect for coloring. Today I've been enjoying myself with Whispy from Saturated Canary.*

*She's been colored with Promarkers and got Stickles on her wings and in the skirt.*

*The card was put together based on this weeks sketch from Mojo Monday. I've used papers from Magnolia and stamped the edges with Inkido Stars.*

:) *I didn't follow the sketch excactely, I couldn't hide the image! Instead I put a sentiment on a tag behind the image, a trick I learned from Elin. :) *

*Not much decor on this card, but a couple of roses from WOC with stickles and a butterfly from a MS punch which I colored with the same colors as the digistamp and applied a little Stickles.*

Mojo for the boys

*Two postings in one day doesn't happen often in this blog! But that's what happens when there are so many wonderful challenges! This card is made from the same sketch as my previous card, but this time it's a more masculine take on it.*

Challenges:

Supplies:
Papers: Bazzill cardstock, WRM
Stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps, Norsk Stempelblad, Tim Holtz
Ink: Distress Ink - Gathered Twigs, Memento - Rich Cocoa
Accessories: Buttons (Maya Road, Kaisercraft), twine (WMS)

Mojo's back

*I've spent some time in my playroom lately, but I was inspired by the picture I made last week, so it's been mostly playing with colors and mist and some art journaling. Nothing suitable for publication... yet. ;-) But today I've actually made a couple of cards too. Inspired by the Mojo sketch this week I put together this card.*

Combined Mojo Madness

*I just had to join in the Mojo Madness this week. I had a go earlier this week with my Maja-card, but I got lost along the way and didn't think I could enter it. This, on the other hand, should be more like the sketch... and far from my style! The challenge at Simon Says Stamp this time, is inspired by the Queen of England's diamond jubilee, and they're asking for crowns and/or gems.*

*The crowns got me on the idea of using these Glitz papers that are older than my cardmaking career(!!) and the jewels are a sticker ribbon from Panduro. The star is die cut from adhesive foil and embossed which I tought was a really cool effect. The bow was made by sticking a black ribbon on a wider white ribbon, then I made to double bows in black before I glued the whole thing together and adhered a big bling in the centre.*

Challenges:

Supplies:
Paper: Bazzill cardstock, Glitz Design, Ranger Foil Sheet
Accessories: Satin ribbon (WOC, Søstrene Grene), Black sheer ribbon (WOC), pearl sticker ribbon (Panduro)

*It's all about confirmation cards these days, this time in what my dh called "a feisty choice of colors". :) I finally got to use my Glitz papers that has been collecting dust for several years actually! Another thing that has been on hold for years are the star paper clips. I bought them at Nille some time ago. And I got to test run my brand new Cheery Lynn doilie die that came home with me from Bikuben when I was there. I can agree that these are spunky colors, but according to my 14 year old niece this is the coolest colorcombo in the entire world, so I'm hoping this card can make some confirmant happy.*

Challenges:

Supplies:
Papers: Bazzill cardstock, Best Creation, Glitz design
Stamps: Kort og Godt
Ink: Memento - Tuxedo Black
Accessories: Flowers (WOC, Prima), crystals (WOC), paper clips (Nille), ribbon (unknown)
Other: Cheery Lynn doilie die

Stars and stripes

*I feel like I've got some catchin' up to do since my impulse vacation, so today I killed a few birds with one stone with this card.*

*The card is pretty straight forward. The star paper is from Magnolia, the striped paper is a leftover. I'm not sure where it's from and I would love to get some more of it, so if anyone recognize it a little hint would be great.*

Back to normal

*Finally back to my own comfortable style after playing around with layers and coloring.*

*lol*
*I made a masculine card after the sketch at Mojo Monday with one of the funniest quotes I've heard in a while and it fits the recipient perfectly! *lol* (It's not easy when your bangs disappears and comes out of your nose)*

*I made the flower myself with punched out circles of newspaper, a little Glimmermist and Distress Ink. The staples was very shiny and silver, so I colored them in with ProMarker Burnt Sienna.*

Winter Birthday

************
I might be a bit odd, but every time I'm gonna make a card for someone in my closest family or friends I have great ambitions and it usually ends up with something completely different and it never turns out good enough. That's what happened with my "little" sister's  birthdaycard. But they say it's the thought that counts and the thought was definately good.
A winter birthday card after the sketch at Mojo Monday.  I'm pretty hooked on embossing and embossed snowflakes has been seen on several of my cards this winter. This time I got to try out a new embossing powder that I thought would give more sparkle to the snowflakes I stamped on the red paper, but sadly I was disappointed. Still I'm not completely dissatisfied with the end result even though it didn't turn out to be what I intended.
Challenges:

Ink: Distress Ink - Stormy sky, Embossing Ink (Ranger)

A favourite

************
"Your favourite colour combination" is the challenge at Paper Sundaes this week. Easy-peasy, I thought, and went straight for my Kaisercraft Lilac Avenue paper pad. The fact that I have a passion for purple is no secret. And just a little while ago, I discovered the gorgeousness in combining purple with green.Yummy! :)
I worked from Julee's fabulous sketch over at Mojo Monday and I'm quite pleased with the result. I think this may actually be one of my favourites.
I'm also entering this at Allsorts #125 Lavender and Lace and Sentimental Sundays - Anything goes.

Edited to add: I just realized that the background paper I've used looks blue on my screen! Either it's just my computer screen that's playing me a trick or it might be my poor photographing skills, but the paper is purple IRL. Hope it doesn't disqualify me at Allsorts Lavender and lace challenge. :-/

Supplies:
Papers: Bazzill cardstock, Lilac Avenue (Kaisercraft)
Stamps: Hero Arts
Ink: Dusty Concord Distress Ink (Ranger)
Accessories: Lace, Flowers, Pearl Spray, self adhesive pearls (WOC). Ribbon, string and button from my own stash.

Almost unbelieveable

************
It can almost seem like I'm back in the game! At least I threw together this card after the sketch at Mojo Monday this week.
I've used papers and diecut from the KaiserCraft Utopia series. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I love KaiserCraft papers! :) I also got to use my new MS Cherish punch. My very first eBay buy, which I'm sensing is going to be a favourite.. if I can only figure out the principles about Punch-around-the-page. *lol*
And since Scrap-a-long is having an open challenge this time I'll throw myself in there too.

I've found a new love

************
I've previously posted about
my love for Magnolia papers that I love so much I can't afford to use them. Well, I've found a new love in the papers from Kaisercraft and these I can't help but to use! I ordered a huge stack from USA since many of the 6x6 pads aren't to be found in Norwegian stores, and I can already say that my next order is right around the corner. Aren't these just yummy!?
The card is made after the sketch at Mojo Monday. I'll also enter the challenges at DYSU #23 Birthday and Scrappekammeret #32 Kammerpikenes oppskrift.

Testing Techniques - part 3

*************
Sometimes it's fun to try out new things and get out of the comfort zone. Today was not one of those days. It started with a sketch from Mojo Monday and a DP that I have no idea where it came from. And from there it only got worse! *lol* But at least I got to try out a new MS edge punch and a new Spellbinders die, and I tried stenciling with the die.

************
Happy mother's day to all mothers and especially to all single mothers out there. I'm not one of them, but I have a husband that sometimes travels a lot, and that has given me an enourmous respect for single parents! It's really not an easy job to take care of kids all on your own, even though you have the sweetest, nicest kids in the world (which of course all parents have! ;)). You do a fantastic job! I hope you all get the attention you deserve today and enjoy the day!

I'll enter this card for the following challenges:
Mojo Monday - Sketch 177
Kort o Mania - Utfordring 33 Ikke 6x6
My time to craft - Challenge 127 Hearts and flowers
Cute Card Thursday - Challenge 151 Hearts and flowers
Paper Play Challenges - 11w6 Hearts and flowers but not Valentine

More winter

************
The winter here in the north sometimes seem endless, but now the sun's back so the days are lighter. And a lot colder! *lol*
I was fortunate enough to get a trip to the big city and a small pile of goodies got to go home with me. Among others, a bigger snowflake punch that I got to test run for this card. A winter card made by the sketch at Mojo Monday and for the challenge at Sentimental Sundays.
