*The mojo is far away these days, especially for masculine cards that I'm usually very comfortable with. And now I had to whip up a card for my brother-in-law who had his birthday on Halloween. They didn't celebrate on that day so I fortunately got some extra time, but as president of the procrastination club it didn't help a lot. It was still a quick and easy card made at the last minute.*

Takk for at du titter! :)

*So late acutally that I forgot to take a picture before I left for the party. So here's a mobile phone pic taken in a hurry. I've used one of my favorite chevron papers from Fancy Pants with simple kraft and blue Bazzill cardstock. The idea was to wrap the present in blue paper, but of course I couldn't find the blue wrapping paper, so I went for black instead. The sentiment from Norsk Stempelblad is embossed in white on kraft cardstock. And the decor is nothing else than some cool wooden stars from Studio Calico. Nice and easy!

Thanks for looking! :)*

*I was barely done with the confirmation cards when the commissions for birthday cards came pouring in. This was a last minute-commision for a 50th birthday so it's a quite simple solution.*

*The commissioner wanted purple flowers, so it was quite easy to get the yummy papers from Maja Design.* The flowers are from Storyteller and Wild Orchid Crafts. The wide satin ribbon is from my stash and the pearls are from Storyteller.*

*Behind the text from Kort og Godt which was also requested by the commissioner, I've hidden a tag with "Happy Birthday" from the same stamp set, die cut with a Magnolia die and decorated with seambinding, twine and a button from my stash.*

*The insides are really simple. The commissioner wanted to write her own text in addition to a personal greeting, so I made it easy with room for the text directely onto the patterned paper.*

*A simple backside too with my personal stamp combined with a little sentiment from the same stamp set.*

*The crop this weekend was really productive for me. I even had time for a little coloring and folding.*

*I bought this Bildmålarna stamp and the papers (unknown producer) at the crop and went ahead with this gorgeous folding technique. The tag with the image keeps it closed.*

*When the tag comes out the card may be opened. The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.*

*And this is what it looks like then. A simple space for a greeting with Martha Stewart Cherish punch set.*

*In the back I've used the same papers and punch and added my personal stamp from Rox Stamps. I'll stamp something in the middle of the personal stamp but I'll wait until I know what the occasion for the card will be before I do it.*

*The image is of course colored with ProMarkers. News to me is that I've also colored the seambinding ribbon and the smallest roses with ProMarkers. A bit of color and a bit of Alcohol Blending Solution and voilá a color that matches the image perfectly! This was really fun and will be done a lot more in the future. The giant pearl in the bow is from Storyteller.*

*And this is what it looks like when it's ready to give away to some lucky person.*

*Another chocolate card for the collection. This time in traditional colors with cute angels on the paper. If I'm not mistaken this is an old paper from 3ndy Papir.*

*The papers are matched with Bazzill kraft and vanilla. As usual I've used sentiment stamp from Norsk Stempelblad, die cut with a Sizzix die. I've also used Magnolia dies for the poinsettia and the flourish.*

*Inside I've used the MS Doily Lace punch on the pocket edge, then nothing but a space for writing a personal greeting... And of course a giant chocolate bar of yummy milk chocolate.
Isn't it enough to give just a chocolate bar? Or would you like to give a gift certificate in a little different way? Then here's a tip for you: Make a pocket behind the greeting space to put in a gift certificate. Or cash. ;-) *

DT Charisma - Love

Yup, it's that time again. Loooove is in the air in the Charisma blog too. And as always, there are som great prizes for you from our lovely sponsors:

PRIZE ONE
J and C creations are offering a £10 Voucher to their online shop!!

PRIZE TWO
$10.00 Winner Certificate

Here's what I did for today:

I got out my ProMarkers and coloured in this brand new qutie from Saturated Canary, I think it's called Hugs and Kisses, and paired it up with some papers from Pink Paislee. The yellow banners are from the same paper stack, but they were a little more yellow than I wanted them, so I put on some Distress Stain Picket Fence to tone it down a bit. And then I inked the edges with Distress Ink Picked Raspberries.
The papers are plenty embellishments for my taste, so all I added was a butterfly that I punched out with a MS punch and coloured with the same ProMarkers that I used for the hearts in the image (see colours below), and a few pearls.

Here's a close up of the image. And a list of the colours I've used:
Hair: Umber, Henna, Cocoa, Cinnamon, Sandstone
Skin: Coral, Sunkissed Pink, Blush, Ivory, Dusky Pink
Lips: Rose Pink, Blossom
Eyes: Duck Egg, Cool Aqua
Hearts: Rose Pink, Pink Carnation, Blossom, Cerise
Top and stockings: Canary, Lemon, Soft Lime, Primrose, Morning Mist, Rose Pink, Blender
Skirt and Shoes: Burnt Umber, Cinnamon, Tan
Box: Warm Grey 2, Tan, Morning Mist

DT Charisma - Hearts and flowers

It's time for another challenge with Team Gem over at Charisma Cardz Challenges. This week we're looking for hearts and flowers. And as always we have some fab prizes to offer:

PRIZE ONE

Stamp Fairy are generously offering our lucky winner a $10 voucher to their online store! Wow!

PRIZE TWO
MarkerPOP.com

Marker Pop are a new sponsor of ours!! They are generously offering a $10 voucher for their online shop, be sure to pay them a visit!!

Here's what I did for the challenge:

I started out with a plain pink background, but I thought it was too boring, so I stamped the heart stamp from SU Sprinkled Expressions stamp set all over it in Memento Angel Pink. Then I found some ancient papers in my stash to go with the cute little bunny from our sponsor Stamp Fairy. I believe the pink one is from EK Success. The grey one I have no idea. All I know is that it's flocked and I've never found a use for it until now.
The sentiment is from the same SU stamp set and I've stamped it with Versafine Onyx Black. Doesn't look black to you? Well, you're right. I thought the pure black print was too hard, so I used the second print which looks a lot more grey and match the colour scheme much better. :-)
All the flowers are from a punch set from Panduro (Marvy?) and some of them got a bit of Stickles Frosted Lace on them.
The image is coloured with ProMarkers:
Grays: Warm Grey 1, 2 and 4
Ears and paws: Budding Rose, Morning Mist, Almond
Heart and bows: Baby Pink, Blossom, Rose Pink

DT Charisma - Monochrome

A very happy and creative new year to all of my fellow bloggers!
We're back with the first challenge of 2013 on the Charisma Cardz challenge blog! I have a good feeling about this year and I'm hoping to see lots of new inspiration throughout the year. And I'm thinking a couple of decent prizes will spark some inspiration with some of you. Just take a look at what you might win this week:

PRIZE ONE

Simon Says Stamp

Simon Says Stamp are generously offering a $20 voucher to their online store!!!

PRIZE TWO

And our 2nd sponsor this week is the lovely Pink Cat Studio who are offering 5 digis of the winners choice!!

PRIZE THREE
J&C Creations

last but certainly not least, J and C creations are offering a £10 Voucher to their online shop!!

Awesome, right? Well then let's get on with it!
This weeks challenge is Monochrome. Shouldn't be too hard to start off the new year with.

I have to admit that my perfectionist inside would have wanted the first post of the new year to actually be the first card I made this year, but realities are a bit different. I'm still not all well after more than a month of back problems and all kinds of germs attacking, so this is a card I did right before christmas.
It's another chocolate card, only this time in a larger version made for a 200 gram chocolate bar. The tutorial is based on Marianne's, but Wenche has adapted the measurements for the bigger bar. I have to say that I found the measurements a little tight, so when I make my next one I'll try to adapt them even better.

I've used the gorgeous papers from Pion Design along with a large Sizzix die, Magnolia dies for the poinsettia and the swirl, and MS punches for the pine branches and snowflake.

A little closer you can see I've added a tiny touch of bling. The sentiment is from Norsk Stempelblad. (Warm christmas hug and many good thoughts.)

Inside I've used an MS edge punch for the pocket in which the chocolate bar fits. I must have forgotten to snap a photo of the chocolate in place. A bit of stress before I had to send it off I guess.

So that's what I had for you today, now it's your turn. Hop on over to the challenge blog to see what the other girls have been up to.

PRIZE THREE
Cedarchest Designs
$10.00 Winner Certificate

Awesome, right!?
Well on to the challenge of the day, you know Santa Claus is coming to town! In just a few more days! Well, I have to say, beeing practically Santa's next-door neighbor I've already seen him and his reindeer around the neighborhood over the past few weeks, I guess he's busy checking his list. I know which one I'm on! *lol* But aaaanyhoo, here is what I did for this challenge:

I made a chocolate card with papers from Maja Design and a cut out image from Papirdesign. The sentiment is another cut-out, and the poinsettia is a Magnolia die.

On the inside there's a pocket for a chocolate bar. On the pocket I've used an MS edge punch.

Here's the chocolate bar in place.
If you wanna have a go at this you'll find the tutorial at Marianne's blog.

Guest starring at TopTipTuesday

About a week ago, I caught their eye at Top Tip Tuesday Challenges with my mixed media background card. That meant I won a spot as a guest designer with TTT this week. The challenge went live yesterday, but some technical issues did that my card was late. (So sorry about that Samantha!)  And when that was finally resolved, I had to go to the ER with my back acting up again. :-/ But better late than never, right? So here's my card guest designing for TTT and the current challenge, Christmas. Nice and easy, right? So hop on over and join in the fun! :-)

The sponsors this time are Simon Says Stamp and Stamp Fairy. And sweet Annette at Stamp Fairy gave me this cute Santa image to play with. It's coloured with ProMarkers. For the "fluff" on the snow and on santa's suit and hat, I've used flowersoft. A brand new thing for me, but good fun. The "snow" around the image is Liquid Pearls. And the button is brand new from the Norwegian company, Magic Monday. Cute, isn't it?

I had great fun guest designing for TTT and hope I'll get the chance again someday, thanks for havin' me girls! :-)

DT Charisma - Colour Combo

Team Gem is back with another challenge for you over at Charisma Cardz Challenges and we have not one, not two, but THREE fab sponsors.

PRIZE ONE

Catherine has cooked up a yummy colour combo for us this time, just take a look at this.

Looks great doesn't it? And here's my take on the task:

I thought the "Club kid" from Kenny K (colored with ProMarkers) called for something a bit rough, so I got out my mists and had some fun. The background is a mix of Dylusions and Glimmermist on mixed media paper. I used a brick wall stencil with Black Soot Distress Ink and stamped randomly with a texture stamp from Kaisercraft and a splash stamp from The Greeting Farm with Archival Ink. I also used some washi tape in the background. A little mesh ribbon here, a little torn lace there, some misted flowers and staples and there you go. Now hop on over to the challenge blog and show us what you can do with these colours. :-)

Søndagskos

Husk å sjekke ut min giveaway / remember to check out my giveaway!

*A wonderful relaxing day to day. Hubbie is finally home after an involuntary extended business trip and I got to sit in peace and quiet in my playroom for a while.*

*I took a que from the sketch at Mojo Monday. The image is a stamp from Panduro, colored with ProMarkers colours from the Spring Collection (Morning Mist, Fresh Meadow, Budding Rose and blender). The Papers are from a pad I've had around for years but rarely can afford to use, V&A "Hannoverian Sheet Linen". I've inked the edges with Fluid Chald and sewn around the edges. The flowers are from WOC and Papirloftet. Satin ribbon from my stash and seambinding from WOC. The tag and the swirl are both Magnolia dies. In addition I've used a couple of metal corners from Kort og Godt and a doily from Wilton.*

Clean and Simple

*After what feels like forever without much cardmaking and cardmaking in a completely different style, it was wonderful to just be able to sit down and make a CAS card again.*

*I die cut the Vivienne butterfly from Memory Box and adhered it to pink cardstock. Cut around it and mounted it on a circle inked with Distress Ink Shaded Lilac. Some of the "spaces" on the butterfly was filled with Icicle Stickles the rest with Glossy Accent. I stamped a sentiment from Papirloftet and topped it off with som bling. Nice and easy!*

Noe nytt

*It's been quiet in the blog this past week. I'm working on a big project that's taking a lot more time than I thought. And today I got a bit fed up so I had to do something that I could actually finish today. So I made this thing:*

*The base is Bazzill cardstock and the papers I've used are from Nille. All sides are distressed and sponged with Distress Ink Vintage Photo.*

*The sentiment from Kreativ Hobby is one of my favorites that has seen far too little spotlight lately. But for this project I thought it was perfect and hopefully this gift will make my aunt, who had her birthday a couple of days ago, happy. The sentiment is die cut with Spellbinders labels fourteen and inked with Distress Ink Vintage Photo. A bit of stamping off the edges with a stamp from Kaisercraft (2nd generation stamping with Memento Rich Cocoa). The swirl is a Magnolia die. Flowers from WOC and pearls from Prima.*

:-) *On the bottom part I've also used a sentiment from Storyteller. Have you figured out what it is yet? :-)*

:) *Here I've filled it with napkins and teabags. Lovely gift idea I think! I found this tutorial at Marianne's if you want to try it too. :)*

Fun Friday

With less than 25 minutes left of Friday night, I decided to have a little fun in my playroom. I took about ten minutes to set up and went ahead with a 10 Minute Craft Dash. And I'm a slow crafter, so I didn't really expect to get much done in ten minutes, but it was something, I guess. At least I had fun trying out a few techniques I've had on my list for a while. And here's my result.

I masked off an area on white cardstock, double masking the bottom area, in order to get a "clean" background for my sentiment. I'll get back to that in a bit. So I stamped the pattern with an embossing folder (!!) and Versamark Ink. Then I heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. (Mistake 1: Had to remove masks in order to avoid embossing the masks. Didn't manage to put them back on straight.) Really fun to see that I could get a decent print from an embossing folder! Then I inked over the masked area with Distress Ink.

As you can see, the embossing is not on the bottom part of the image. That's because I double masked it. First I put on the torn edge mask. Then I put another straight edged mask (piece of paper) on top of the torn edge, so that I wouldn't have embossing interferring with my sentiment.
So after heat setting the embossing, I could remove the top mask and ink up the bottom of the "image" with the "Faux Tearing"-edge. It was good fun, not at all as complicated as it may sound and a much better result than I expected.

I then thought I would enhance the background for the sentiment by stamping with water, lifting off some of the color from the Distress Ink and creating a different texture. (Mistake 2: Water stamping with solid stamp does NOT work well.) Even though the stamp didn't turn out the way I intended, I still got an effect for my sentiment strip and it might even be better this way.
And then finally I stamped my sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black ink.

And the time spent? 9 minutes 23 secs. Woohoo! :-D
I think the idea was good, but I need some work on the quality of performance under pressure. *lol* Anyway, it was good fun and I certainly think I might do this again.. Maybe even tomorrow! ;-)

I'm also entering this for the Top Tip Tuesday #83 challenge - One Layer Card. And I think you'll find lots of tips in my post, but just to recap:

1. Stretch your embossing folders and use them for background stamps! Ink up the raised side and press directly onto your paper for a slightly distressed look, or run through your diecut machine for a clean impression. (Sandwich directions can be found online. Let me know if you can't find it, and I'll do my best to help you out.)

2. When embossing a masked off area, it's better to leave the masks on, even though it means getting embossing powder on your mask.

3. Faux Tearing edge is easily made by tearing a scrap piece of paper and inking off the edge.

4. Stamping with water on Distress Ink, can be a really cool effect as the water will lift some of the color making it lighter, but this does not work well with stamps that are mostly solid. Remember that Distress Ink react with water, creating a watercolor effect, so you'll have a hard time getting a clean impression. It's also a good tip not to use too much water on your stamp. In my case, maybe even a good huff would've been enough.

So that sums it up then, a fun Friday with lots of lessons to be learned. Hopefully I'll be back tomorrow with something that has taken me more than ten minutes to create. ;-)

Mojo for the boys

*Two postings in one day doesn't happen often in this blog! But that's what happens when there are so many wonderful challenges! This card is made from the same sketch as my previous card, but this time it's a more masculine take on it.*

Challenges:

Supplies:
Papers: Bazzill cardstock, WRM
Stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps, Norsk Stempelblad, Tim Holtz
Ink: Distress Ink - Gathered Twigs, Memento - Rich Cocoa
Accessories: Buttons (Maya Road, Kaisercraft), twine (WMS)
