Renate is my name. Born, raised and currently living far up to the north (of Norway), to a family where all kinds of creativity are in the genes. Drawing, painting, music, sewing, knitting and all sorts of crafting were fed us with the breast milk. However, I've always felt that I was missing that creative gene that the rest of the family had.
But in 2007 a friend gave me a unique card for my birthday that made me think "I wanna try this!" The spark was lit, but it took me two years of intense shopping and blog surfing before I finally made my first "real" card. (Which by the way are posted several places in this blog). And now I can finally say that I've found my creative nishe in life! I love making cards! Giving them away too, but most of all I love making them. It's recreation for me in an otherwise busy everyday life with full time carreer, home and family.
Over the years I've experimented a lot. I started out with recycling and altering and continued with Art Journaling and mixed media. Scrapbook layouts and pocket scrapping (Project Life) are in the starting pit. I still make mostly cards, but my oh my how great it is to be able to vary. Especially art journaling has gotten a special place in my heart. You won't find much of that in my blog though, since this is quite therapeutic for me and therefore very personal.
I've come to the conclusion that my style can't be defined. I try most and like even more, anything from minimalistic Clean and Simple to Vintage/Shabby Chic. But American cardmakers are a huge inspiration for me, so my comfort zone is rather simple. "Clean" is something I often hear about my cards, then I get an urge to create something really messy! And colouring stamped images was something I would definately NOT do, since "everyone" else was doing it! (Yes, I'm defiant! :-P) Still, in some mysterious way, more than 100 ProMarkers have crept into my playroom and coloured images keeps popping up in my blog. I think it must be some sort of "bazzillus". ;-) But it's a wonderful "bazzillus"!
In other words, you'll find all kinds of paper crafting and mixed media stuff here in my little corner of Bloglandia and I hope you like what you see and maybe find some inspiration. If you do you'll make me really happy if you leave me a comment or more and I'll be happy to come visit you too!
